In ship repair, we believe that it is of most essential to have a high quality metal workers. Steel works, as one of our core targets, is what we do daily either alongside, underway or wherever it is necessary.

We are doing steel works daily, SRC renews steel appr. 500 tons annually - from simple steel renewals to manufacturing and installation of different constructional elements of the ship, such as ship sections, deck sections, foundations, radar masts etc.

SPS Overlay

SRC is a licenced representative of SPS Overlay (a metal-elastomer-metal composite) by Intelligent Engineering – the revolutionary technology developed and patented in UK. SPS Overlay technology is approved by all major Classes (LR, ABS, DNV GL, BV). SPS Overlay delivers simpler fabrication, improved performance and increased safety. These advantages offer owners significant economic benefits.

SPS Overlay is used to reinstate existing structures or to convert them to new uses. It is applied on-site that is many times faster than the conventional "crop and replace" and minimizes expensive 'below deck' work. Both uses save labour, time out of service and money.

SPS Overlay applications include ship and bridge decks and other maritime structures such as tank tops, ramps, hulls and helidecks.  Special working practices have been developed for extreme conditions, such as a ‘no hot work’ solution which eliminates the need for welding in the repair of offshore oil & gas structures.

SPS Overlay offers:

  • Fast, highly predictable and non-intrusive repairs
  • Better quality control of repairs and upgrades
  • Opportunity to extend operating lives of older assets
  • Potential to reinstate or improve upon original design strength
  • Scope for parallel working in adjacent areas, thus more can be achieved during a single docking
  • Reduced project risk
  • Potential to use yards closer to trading routes, in relatively high labour cost locations
  • Unique in-service solutions
  • Opportunity to strengthen structures (ice conditions or loads) without additional stiffeners.
